Joseph Sparkes Hall was shoemaker and bootmaker to Queen Victoria, the Queen Dowager and the Queen of the Belgians. He is also credited with the invention of the "patent elastic ankle boot" in 1837, now known as the Chelsea boot.
Illustrated with four hand-colored plates and numerous figures in the text.
