Chatto and Windus, 1939. 1st Edition. Hardcover. VG+/VG-. 1st Edition. 11.8 x17.8 cm. Pictorial paper covered boards with black and blue illustrations to the front and back boards and titles to the front and spine. viii, 64pp consisting of 114 nursery rhymes with 30 wood cuts with original unclipped jacket priced at 1s. A very good plus book with a little toning to the spine and top edge and a little spotting mainly on the rear board. Internally, the book is clean and without name, inscription or book plate and with only the very occasional spot. The scarce jacket has a 2.5 x 1 cm chip from the top edge of the front panel, a 1cm loss to the foot of the spine and 2mm from the head. There is also some minimal loss from the corners and two short cm closed tears. This book from the Zodiac Series with 30 charming woodcuts by the influential 20th Century designer is scarce in any type of jacket.
