First Edition. 12mo (16.5cm.); contemporary red pebbled cloth over marbled boards, gilt-lettered spine; xxiii,[1],204pp. Boards scuffed with exposure at extremities, corners bumped, hair-line split to top inch of upper spine joint, recent bookseller ticket accomplished in manuscript mounted to front pastedown, contemporary ownership rubberstamp and signature to title page (gutter soiled and faintly dampstained) ; still, overall Very Good.

Anthology of patriotic Portuguese songs and religious hymns (issued here without music), offered with short biographies of the authors represented. Text opens with an introductory letter addressed to Barata by the prolific author-politician Tomas Ribeiro (1831-1901).
