Earlier owner's archival tape reinforcing to reverse of dustwrapper's top edge, else fine. This book contains the third and fourth chapters, "Expansion & exploration" and "Greed and graft". Accounts reproduced include those of Christopher Fryke, Father Guy Tachard, Johan Wilhelm Vogel, William Dampier, Francois Leguat, William Erle, and many others. .
