This is a hand colored, framed original engraved view from John Howard Hinton's HISTORY & TOPOGRAPHY OF THE U.S. originally published in 183 0. It was one of 16 hand-colored engravings included in the book.Altho ugh undated this copy, we believe, is from the 1840 3rd edition. It is mounted in a 11" X 13" glass frame with an open image size of 10" X 7 3/4". It carries the original framers tag on the rear which reads 800 7 Stock - 14F509 / Rudolph Lesch Fine Arts, Inc./ Green/ Hinton, Ameri ca/ Capitol D.C./ Typed below that is hand painted water color, that h as been XX out (which this is not-it's an engraving). The engraving is bright and clean with little discernible wear. There are a few tears to the paper backing on the rear. Frame has hooks and wire. Frame has a little wear but still quite servicable. .
