Quarto (9 5/8 x 6 3/4 inches; 244 x 172 mm.). 48 pp. Nine full-page, full-color illustrations and thirty-nine smaller full-color illustrations in the text. Original blue cloth over green wove paper boards with a full-color illustration/title pasted-on to the front board. Pictorial end-papers a little browned, minimal foxing to first illustration, board edges a little worn, but still an excellent copy of one of the most colorful of all of Louis Wain's books. The Tales: Two Recruits; Tiresome Teazer; A Useful Scout; A Cracker; A Peck of Troubles; A Swimming Lesson; The Hunter; The Cat Scouts' Kitchen; Teazer Again; The Alarm; Tattydom and Teazer; A Cat Scout Song; The End Of Tiresome Teazer; A Rainy Day; Moving Day and Full Up. Jessie Pope (18 March 1868 - 14 December 1941) was an English poet, writer and journalist, who remains best known for her patriotic motivational poems published during World War I. Her other works include Paper Pellets (1907), an anthology of humorous verse. She also wrote verses for children's books, such as The Cat Scouts (Blackie, 1912).

The scenes depict: Bedtime; Helping Mother in the Kitchen; Cat's Tea Party; The School Room. With verse by Arthur Burnaby and five line drawings by Louis Wain on the verso of two panels.
