About This Item
Washington: Government Printing Office, 1905. The beautifully-produced catalogue of a monumental collection. Thousands of prints described. According to a laid-in slip bearing the printed signature of the librarian of congress, this book was very expensive to produce, and was published in a "very limited edition" for distribution to libraries and other print-collecting institutions (this probably explains why non-ex-library copies, like this one, are so scarce.) Frontispiece etched portrait of Hubbard, and an original proof of his bookplate. 10 fine collotype plates. Printed on very fine, thick laid paper. Levis p. 221 "It is a beautiful volume." Large, thick 4to, original half leather over gray boards. Wear to head and foot of spine. Uncut and almost entirely unopened. Internally fine. A very attractive copy.
