London: Ellis and White, 1878. vii, 67pp text, 332 bw ills on 26 autotype plates. Grey cloth- mainly gilt with repeating motifs of cherries and cherry blossoms, top edge gilt, other edges uncut. The spine is detached at rear and holding well at front- it is split into 5 sections with approx 1cm of loss at top and .5cm at bottom. Some wear at corners. Front hinge cracked but holding, moderate foxing to endpapers/prelims. Edition limited to 220 copies. A very scarce and desirable attractive volume with James McNeill Whistler illustrations.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good Plus/None, as Issued.. Illus. by Whistler, James McNeill; Thompson, Sir Henry.. Small 4to.
