Light foxing to plates. Large map folds carefully reinforced with paper tape. Neat marginal pencil note to xxv. A crisp handsome copy with all maps and plates as listed.

As correspondent for The Times at Trebizond Oliphant met the Turkish commander Omar Pasha, joined his force and was present at the battle of the Ingour. A first hand valuable account of Ottoman military operations from both a political and military point of view.
