(111) pp., tan wraps w/ black lettering; Book shows wear & some splitting to ends of spine, esp. bottom; a little wear to corners of covers w/ small crease to bottom corner of front cover; back cover has full length crease towards fore edge; a few very small spots & stains overall; light bends to top corner area of about 9 leaves w/ much smaller creases & bends to corners of a number of other pages / "The first publication on the secret structure of the NKVD in one of the Soviet Republics." The author escaped to "the western countries" in 1944 with members of the "National Guard," a resistance organization in Latvia. He took with him "some suit-cases filled with secret NKVD documents, found in NKVD headquarters in Riga," some of which are reproduced in the book. / . Trade Paperback.
