A valuable contribution to the important division of chemical knowledge of which it treats. In c1900 half calf over blue marbled boards, small paper tear, some blind tooling, corners & edges very lightly bumped & worn. Spine, attractive decorative gilt tooling & titles, raised bands, edges rubbed. Internally, [3], (iv-ix), [1], [1], 2-702 pp, grey endpapers, text block edges sprinkled red, no inscriptions, printed by John Stark, Old Assembly Close, Edinburgh, numerous illustrations within text, occasional light spotting. 1st and only edition. (Allibone 2404) Thomson, chemist, whose outstanding pedagogic feature of his professorship was his emphasis on the laboratory teaching of practical chemistry. In autumn 1818 he extracted from the university a laboratory, and thus became the first teacher of practical chemistry in a British university. See ODNB.

DELIVERY DETAILS We ship all of our orders via Royal Mail. Orders are usually shipped within 2 or 3 business days. Shipping costs are based on books weighing 2.2 LB, or 1 KG. If your book order is heavy or oversized or a multiple in books we will contact you to let you know that extra shipping is required. Insurance costs are usually dictated by the shippers, should they be higher than normal, then we will contact you for your acceptance.
