About This Item

London: Sampson Low, Marston, Searle & Rivington. 1878. Second UK edition. Second UK edition. Original blue cloth with titles and illustrations in black and gilt to the spine and upper board. All edges gilt. Illustrated throughout with black and white engravings by Jules Férat and Charles Barbant. A very good copy, the binding firm, the extremities with light wear, the spine a touch faded, slight cracking to the internal page hinges. There is a school prize plate on the front free endpaper, light spotting to the text block edge, a few fingermarks throughout, and without the plain tissue-guard from the frontispiece. A decade-spanning novel about mysterious happenings in a Scottish mine. Further details and images for any of the items listed are available on request. Lucius Books welcomes direct contact with our customers.
