London: Printed for T. Caldwell and W. Davies, In the Strand, 1809. First Edition First Printing . Hardcover. Fair. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. Quarto. [xxxi], 333, 60 pages. With large folding map of Ireland. Hardcover bound in contemporary or early 3/4 leather with marbled paper-covered boards. The binding shows heavy wear. The front board is detached; the rear board is holding by the cords. The leather on the front and rear boards is chipped away at the hinges and the binding generally appears worn and heavily rubbed. The leather on the spine is a bit darkened, suggesting it having been damped, and also has a couple of chips missing. Dual black leather labels on the spine. Likely an ex-library copy; a bookplate has been removed from the front pastedown. The paper of the text shows some waviness, also suggesting having been damped, although there are no tide-marks in the paper. Text is untrimmed. Text is toned and occasionally foxed, especially on the pages around the map.…

Description:
London : W. Nicoll, 1769 A good copy of a very scarce work, originally issued as part of a two volume work called 'The City Remembrancer'. This consisted of 3 books, with separate title pages and pagination, on the Great Plague, Fire and Storm of London. The title page for the 'Remembrancer' states that the source material for the work is Dr Gideon Harvey's papers. Dr Harvey ?1640-?1700 became the king's 'Physician to the Tower'. He is known for a variety of medical works (and for using his writing to discredit other physicians). This copy has been rebound by Bath Municipal Reference Library, and is in a near fine buckram cloth binding with gilt title, reference number and date to spine. The internal endpaper joints are reinforced and there is the armorial library bookplate to the fep, together with some reference numbers at the top. There are no other library markings. The binder has introduced a new front blank and has probably misbound the Introduction, which should…

Description:
Cambridge: R. Walker & T. James, 1745. Two Volumes, first thus. This is the two volume re-issue of this work by Walker, in 1745. It was longer than the earlier edition (extending to 1234 pages rather than 1109), but it was not issued with the engravings. This copy conforms to ESTC T154531 with pages up to Y4 the same as the earlier issue, those after differing. In this copy, Y4 is not a cancel. Half contemporary leather bindings, with marbled boards (now significantly faded) gilt volume number but no titles to each spine. Leather is a little cracked, but binding is holding well. Vol. 1 has a modern cutting with a portrait of Cromwell pasted to the inside front board. Title page is a little darkened. Rest of the work is in good clean condition, with a few pages a little dirty. To volume II, the rear paste down is covered in pencil page references. The last text page has a repaired tear, with a corner of loss (not affecting text.). (viii) 1-716, 721-1234. pp. 110 by 170mm (4¼ by 6¾ inches).

WINNER OF THE PEGASUS PRIZE FOR LITERATURE AND THE BOOKER PRIZE. Used. Very Good/Very Good unclipped original $17.95 dust jacket. Summary: "The Bone People, first published in 1984 by Spiral, New Zealand. About this book: The Bone People is an unusual story of love. It is unusual in the telling, the subject matter, and the form of love that the story depicts. This is in no way a romance; it is filled with violence, fear, and twisted emotions. At the story's core, however, are three people who struggle very hard to figure out what love is and how to find it. Hulme won New Zealand's Pegasus Prize for Literature (1984) for The Bone People.
