Four volumes in red cloth with gilt and blue decorated covers in a near fine illustrated burgundy slipcase. Maps, tables, black and white and color photographs and illustrations, index. Minor spotting to the page edges of volume one. "The four volumes of A History of the English-Speaking Peoples together constitute Churchill's last book - the last of more than twenty. It is difficult to be absolutely precise about numbers because of a combination of his liking for multi-volume works and of the borderline between 'real' books on the one hand and on the other long pamphlets and collections of speeches or articles being somewhat misty" - from the Introduction. Introduction by Roy Jenkins. Vol. 1 The Birth of Britain. Vol. 2 The New World. Vol. 3 The Age of Revolution. Vol. 4 The Great Democracies. (History, History--Europe).

Considered to be one of Agatha Christie's most controversial mysteries, he Murder of Roger Ackroyd breaks all the rules of traditional mystery writing.
