About This Item

Edinburgh: Lowland and Border Book Depot, Ltd. , 1945. Fourth Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Hardcover. Published in 1945. Bound in red publisher's cloth, covers are plain with gilt lettering on the spine. Contents include ten lectures: A New Departure; A Notable Birthday; The House of God; Established and Endowed; The Body of Christ: The United Church; The Holy Spirit's Temple: The Free Church; Gifts, Ministry and Local Office; The Candlestick and the Bride; King David's New Cart; and The Calf and the Camp. viii, 265 pp.

EXCERPT FROM THE PREFACE: The preface of a book is usually the apology for its existence. The Author does not tender one in this case, the occasion for its appearance being far too grave. [...] The Battle of the Churches has drawn the eyes of Christendom on the combatants, and in many a mind raised a doubt as to the reality of Christianity, while numbers of the sheep and lambs of Christ's true flock have been flung into distress and perplexity of mind. Under these circumstances it cannot be contended that an inquiry in Scripture as to What is the Church is superfluous.

CONDITION: Copy shows overall wear with light foxing, particularly within the end papers. Spine is cocked. Leaves are free from marginalia or annotation with the exception of the previous owner's name written on the front flyleaf. A nice, readable copy. Full refund if not satisfied.
