New York: Harper & Row, 1988. First Paperback Edition, Fifth Printing. Signed with hand drawings by author. Softcover. Octavo. 9.25 x 6 inches. xxi, 837, [3] pp. Near Fine in wrappers. Illustrated. Red wrappers with triple-fish design on front. Author's signature and date (10/1/92), on the title page verso with circled "AH" beneath. Above the signature the author has drawn a mound, along which is written the location of the signing (Hawley-Cooke Bookshop, Louisville). Growing from the mound the author has drawn a small serpent and a large sunflower with the letters "AH" in its center. A Star of David and crescent moon are drawn in the upper left corner. On the title page, the author has drawn the sun centered with the letters "AH" in the upper right and inscribed, "for Dan Cooke," beneath his name and above the title. Illustrated with black and white sketches by Ginsberg and others. Copious Notes section includes musical notation of songs composed by Ginsberg and photographs of notable individuals and events. Binding square and tight. Wrappers un-faded, clean and glossy, with no chips or tears. Light rubbing and edge-wear. Some wrinkling to flyleaf with tiny amount of material missing at top leading corner. Pages bright, clean, and unmarked.
