New York: Rinehart & Company, Inc, 1946. First edition. Hardcover. Very good + / Near fine. 400 pp. Octavo. [20.5 cm]. Red cloth over boards with original dust jacket, which is in very good condition with some wear to extremities. Discoloration to back right fore edge of dust jacket. Gilt title stamped onto black cloth background on backstrip and blind stamped "Rivers of America" symbol on front board. Some mild sunning and very subtle foxing to pages. lllustrated by Nicolai Fechin. This book provides an extensive history of the rich culture of the Colorado River: from the perspective trappers and frontiersmen, Spanish colonizers, and the indigenous Navajo peoples. Waters himself was born and raised on the banks of the Colorado and was committed to exploration and the wonders of Navajo country.
