About This Item
Garden City: Doubleday & Co., 1966. Hardcover. Good Plus/Good. Poe's short stories and poetry complete in a single, 821-page volume including a biographical note at the end of the text. Besides his groundbreaking detective stories, Poe was equally adept at fantasy, humor and science fiction, and, once you've read it, his lyric poetry -- "The Raven," "Annabell Lee," "The Bells" -- can't be forgotten. First edition thus, later printing. About 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches, in green paper-covered boards with yellow lettering on spine. Dustjacket's pictorial front panel shows black line drawing with green highlights of woman standing in front of tree looking past a stand of trees to a house in the distance. Back panel of jacket shows portrait of Poe and a short biographical note. Corners lightly bumped; front cover shows a spattering of small, irregularly-shaped dots on lower half of cover, o/w boards and text are complete, clean and unmarked. Binding a bit loose but hinges intact and text square. Dustjacket shows considerable amount of edge wear including small chip missing at top of spine and a 1 1/4-inch tear bottom of back panel. That noted, dj remains 95% whole with no loss of lettering or graphic design. This is a decent reading copy or a sturdy study/reference volume. Due to the book's size and weight, priority/express orders or orders from outside the U.S. will require additional postage.
