Story of "the San Diego Mission battle, and the twenty-two-year-old soldier standing in a dilapidated adobe hut, fighting --single handed-- an army of over eight hundred savages all through one night and forcing them to disperse." In other words, a pre-t.v. cop show; the frontis photoportrait of the author is eerie. "Father" Serra is amongst the cast of characters.
