Cape, 1946. Hardcover. Acceptable. 1946. Thirteenth Impression. 351 pages. No dust jacket. Green cloth with a black and white illustrated frontis and illustrated plates throughout. There is also black and white illustrations throughout. Moderate foxing and tanning to pages with heavier foxing and tanning to pastedowns and endpapers. Slight dog-eared pages throughout and major ink mars, foxing and tanning to text block edges. Pen inscriptions to frontis and both hinges are cracked with exposed netting. There is cracks to guttering with exposed netting and binding is loose. Boards have heavy water damage and tip ex marks to rear. Moderate bumping to corners and heavier crushing to spine ends. Notable rubbing to spine as well.
Synopsis
Coot Club is the fifth book of Arthur Ransome's Swallows and Amazons series of children's books, published in 1934. The book sees Dick and Dorothea Callum visiting the Norfolk Broads during the Easter Holidays, eager to learn to sail and thus impress the Swallows and Amazons when they return to the Lake District later that year. Along with a cast of new characters, Dick and Dorothea explore the North and South Broads and become 'able seamen'.
