103 original photographs (silver prints, various sizes, the majority c. 110 x 155 mm and slightly smaller, 2 large group photographs 195 x 273 mm), pasted variously recto and verso onto 24 black cardboard mounts, 1 leaf with manuscript Japanese text. Cont. velvet binding, with gilt stamped title and red onlays representing the unit sign. Oblong folio (265 x 360 mm). Slightly dust-soiled.
A photoalbum dedicated to a member of the unit, with his gilt stamped name on front cover "Nakanishi Hiroshi". The unit was part of the Japanese occupational forces in Corea, the photos with portraits of its members, armament, landscape and city views, and of Corean people in their daily activities. Each photograph with Japanese manuscript captions. Two photographs with insect damage to lower edges not affecting image. The page with handwritten text lays emphasize on the imperial maxims of troop morale. "Imperial instruction: Soldiers are to take loyalty seriously; soldiers are to behave well ; soldiers are to be courageous ; soldiers should honour the faith ; soldiers should live without luxury". Fine overall condition.
