Beyer of Christiana (as Oslo, Norway was known from 1624-1924) , taken in 1891. The illustrations are mounted on cardboard and fold out accordion-style from green cloth boards with elaborate black and gilt botanical design on front. The title of this leporello is in Danish, but the captions for each costumed figure are in English and German. Illustrated endpapers. pp. 125 with 122 colour photographic plates of shoes designed by Takada between 1967 and 1990. Held her first exhibition at a Ginza art gallery in 1966 since when she became one of the most innovative and stylish shoe designers of the C20th. Unclipped jacket with light edgewear only. Uncommon.

1869. Two fabulous original watercolours. Each shows a soldier sitting upon a rock. One shows a cavalry officer in full Cuirassier with sabre. The second is probably from a Dragoon regiment. Beautifully coloured and represented. Slight edgewear with nicking to the edges. Each is signed A. Gire to the bottom right corner. One is also dated 1869. Each measures: 440 x 300 mm (17¼ x 11¾ inches). Deux fabuleuses aquarelles originales. Chacun montre un soldat assis sur un rocher. L'une montre un officier de cavalerie en plein cuirassier au sabre. Le second provient probablement d'un régiment de dragons. Magnifiquement coloré et représenté. Légère usure des bords avec entailles sur les bords. Chacun est signé A. Gire dans le coin inférieur droit. L'un est également daté de 1869. Chacun mesure : 440 x 300 mm

Good copy of this pocket book of French fashion.Complete with 100 lithographs by George Scharf from original fashion plates by Hippolyte Lecomte in Costumes civils et militaires de la monarchie francaise.Subjects include Joan of Arc, Bloody Mary, Queen of Scots, Ninon de Lenclos, many French kings and queens, courtiers, mistresses, soldiers, knights, politicians and admirals, from five centuries of French history.Published by famous London printer and lithographer Charles Hullmandel (1789-1850). Hullmandel was a prolific publisher and instrumental in many major improvements to lithography in the 1820s and 1830s. Lithographer George Scharf (1788-1860) was a Bavarian-born artist and one of the best lithographers operating in London at the time. Pigskin spine cracking on front hinge, marble boards scuffed and grubby, title page with smudges at top, but all other 99 plates clean and bright.
