An excellently preserved two volume French cookbook from the second half of the eighteenth century, published anonymously by the elusive 'Menon'. Containing all manner of French recipes for wealthy families, such as for meat, poultry, game, cheese, fish and vegetables.Written under the pseudonym Menon by an unidentified writer; the works were published anonymously. This was his best known work, and first appeared in 1746.In the French language.A new edition, complete in two volumes.With the pencil ownership inscription of Lord Ormathwaite of Warfield Park, presumably politician John Walsh (1798-1881), who was born and died at Warfield.A well-preserved eighteenth century cookbook. In a full calf binding. Externally a trifle worn, with rubbing to the spine, joints and extremities, as well as some wear to the boards. Pencil ownership inscription to the half title of each volume. Internally, generally firmly bound; the hinge is exposed at page 168 of volume I. Pages are generally bright and clean. Very Good
