The first UK edition of this work of modern fiction, presented in the original dustwrapper, and signed by the author to the title page. The first edition of the work. Signed and dated to the title page 'April 3 1996 Robertson Davies'. Robertson Davies was a Canadian novelist, playwright and journalist. He is considered one of the most popular Canadian authors and a distinguished man of letters. The Cunning Man was the last novel written by Davies and is the memoir of the life of a doctor Dr Jonathan Hullah. The popular character and narrator of Fifth Business 'Dunstan Ramsay' makes a brief appearance in this work. Whilst it was never confirmed by Davies, it was hypothesised that this work was to be the second in a trilogy alongside Murther and Walking Spirits. A excellent signed example of noted Canadian author Robertoson Davies's final work, presented in the original dustwrapper. In a black cloth binding in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally in excellent condition with minor shelf wear to the extremities and the head and tail of the spine. Dustwrapper is in excellent condition with slight bumping to the extremities and the head and tail of the spine. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with marginal age toning to the pages.
