About This Item

Grand Rapids, MI: The Alabastine Co., 1908. Narrow quarto. 32 pp; 13 color illustrations; 27 panel designs & b/w photos. Red & beige embossed wrapper with string tie. VG, a clean, unmarked copy; covers show light soil, 2-in. watermark on bottom edge of front cover. The Alabastine Company, founded in 1879, produced a variety of paint products from the gypsum that was mined from the shale beds near Grand Rapids, Michigan. It's earliest product, a dry pigment wall paint, was marketed as a "sanitary" and "hygienic" alternative to more traditional wall coverings of the day, such as lead-based paints, whitewash, and wallpaper. This booklet offers color schemes for various rooms in a house, in addition to a church and a schoolroom. Not in OCLC.. First Edition. Soft Cover. Very Good.
