In this major contribution to the literature of Darwinism, Eiseley presents indisputable evidence that the basic tenets of natural selection were set forth by the now-forgotten naturalist, Edward Blyth, years before publication of Darwin's "Origin of Species". Eiseley also clarifies Darwin's debt to Alfred Russell Wallace and to the geologist Charles as well as well as to Edward Blyth. Interwoven with the story is the broader subject of human evolution, on which Darwin, Wallace, and Blyth had differing views. 278 pages, Index and Bibliography. 5.75 x 8.5 inches. 1979, E P Duttom, New York.
