This is an early fishing book - "Days and Nights of Salmon Fishing in the (River) Tweed" by William Scrope, Esq. 1843 1st edition; John Murray; London. "With an Account of the Natural History and Habits of the Salmon, Instructions to Sportsmen, Anecdotes, etc." The book features 13 full-page lithographs (some with color) and 9 wood engraving, in-text "vignettes."
From the Preface:
"It will be seen that in the letter-press I have attempted little more than to give a correct and faithful account of the manner and spirit in which the sport of salmon fishing is carried on in various ways where the scene is laid, and to bring before the sportsman the characters of such people as he is likely to fall in with in his excursions."

Condition:
The pages are in great condition - clean with no notable condition issues found, with the exception of a 1/2" tear at the outer edge of a front blank end paper and the half title page. The book has been rebound - the original covers, spine and end papers remain. Worn corners; cloth wear along the edges of the boards. Tight binding with no loose pages. Cracks at both the front and rear hinges between the end papers and pastedowns. Library label dated 1843 affixed to the front pastedown - no other library markings found.
