During the First World War, 1915, Great Britain sent an army to capture Turkish held Baghdad, in order to protect its Middle Eastern oil interests. The campaign was botched and British found themselves surrounded by an Ottoman army in Kut. The British Empire forces surrendered in April 1916.. First American Edition. Cloth.
