Cambridge: University Press, 1924. First edition. Oblong 12mo. 79 pp; 61 descriptive labels written by the author, the director of the Cambridge University Botanic Garden. Rebound in orange cloth with original orange printed cover pasted on front cover. VG+, a bright, unmarked copy; original paper cover gently soiled. Originally a paperback, this book was re-bound with heavy orange buckram and the original orange cover was trimmed and glued onto the new binding. Humphrey Gilbert-Carter (1884-1969), botanist, philologist, author, and lecturer, was an Economic Botanist with the Botanical Survey of India from 1913 to 1921. He then became the first Academic Director of the Botanic Garden in Cambridge from 1921 to 1950.. Hard Cover. Very Good.
