London: J. Barker, 1784 (Circa). Very Good. 4.25 x 6.75 inches (10.5 x 17 cm). Full blue morocco leather binding. Gilt decorative panels to boards, gilt decorated spine. Marbled endpapers, gilt decorated turn ins, page edges untrimmed. Light rubbing to spine and corners of covers. Light foxing to text, browning to half title and last page of text. Contemporary initials to half title page. Rare early printing, Todd's 'J' edition (The Private Issues of the Deserted Village, 1954). Amusingly the front cover is dated 1769, the year before the first printing. A very scarce issue (ESTC lists 8 copies) in an attractive 19th century binding. ESTC: T146773.
