About This Item

New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1970. First Edition. Cloth. Near Fine/Near Fine. 8vo, off-white cloth with black lettering on spine & BJF on front cover, Mylar-protected cursive title coming from a gun on the dust jacket (price-clipped), 310 pages + [2] A Note on the Type. Bruce Jay Friedman (born April 26, 1930, New York, New York) is an American novelist, screenwriter, playwright, and actor. THE DICK was his third novel. Like several of his books, the novel's sardonic humor and satire was often directed at the behaviour of American Jews. Because of his lively comedic sense, Friedman became widely appreciated for his collaborations with Neil Simon in The Heartbreak Kid (1972); and for his book "The Lonely Guy's Book of Life," which became the 1984 Steve Martin film, The Lonely Guy (1984), with screenplay by Friedman. UNCOMMON title in generally SUPERIOR CONDITION, though there is a small chip at the top of the dj's spine and a possible Remainder red stamp on the upper right corner of the half title.
