About This Item
London: Thomas Murby & Co., 1934. First edition, first printing. This is a near fine copy. The dust wrapper has some very light wear at the spine tips, and has not been price clipped (15/- net). There are some neat tape repairs to the top of the spine (internal). The boards are sharp but with blemishing throughout, which casts this copy down from the fine grading. The text blocks are pristine throughout and free from foxing. Dust wrappers are markedly rare for this title, with this being the only jacketed copy available on the market. Overall, this is a near fine copy of an exceedingly rare title.
The author was arguably the foremost scholar on dinosaurs in the period and the publication of this title cements that claim. The Dinosaurs helped to shape the public perception of the extinct reptiles, but his ideas of dinosaur anatomy, ecology and systematics were soon phased out.
