Tan cloth, lettered in gilt. Without dustwrappers. Recased, with new endpapers. Extremities rubbed. Lightly spotted. From the library of Eric Kenneth Prentice 'Kenn' Back (b. 1942), meteorologist with the British Antarctic Survey from 1963 to 2002, and a descendant of Arctic explorer George Back, with his bookplate to both FEPs. The first edition in French of Royal Navy officer Robert Falcon Scott's (1868-1912) The Voyage of the "Discovery" (1905), account of the British National Antarctic Expedition 1901-1904. .
