Vintage paperback, Ballantine U5036; Burgess' darkly humorous satire of London in the 1950's features Dr. Edwin Spindrift, a professor of linquistics about to undergo surgery for a brain tumor, who, barefooted and with shaven head, escapes the hospital and seeks refuge in London's underworld; one-reader text is clean, square, tight, slightly age-browned; pictorial wrappers show slight reading creases, mild soiling and age discoloration on spine and edges, minimal surface and edgewear. Collectable.
