Westbrook, ME Edwin B. Robertson (1997)., 1997. VG lg sz PB. Signed by author. In 1865 Sylvester of Littleton, NH, obtained a charter for for ascending Mt. Washington by cog railroad. Four engines were designed and constructed with upright boilders and a single pair of cylinders from designs by Herrick Aiken, of Franklin, NH, who had first conceived the idea of a cog railway up Mt. Washington. Illustrated by Stereosopic photos, maps.
