[PHILIP GLASS, ANDREW DE GROAT, SIGNED; EINSTEIN ON THE BEACH, EOS ENTERPRISES, RARE] EINSTEIN ON THE BEACH – AN OPERA IN FOUR ACTS by Robert Wilson and Philip Glass, with choreography by Andrew de Groat, edited by Vicky Alliata, inscribed by Philip Glass on title page ""Thanks for being there, Philip Glass" and Andrew de Groat "Best wishes and [?]", published by EOS Enterprises, Inc., New York, undated/but 1978 (WorldCat/OCLC reference], paperback, 6-1/2" high x 11" across, 44 pages, varied content including music scores, storyboard illustrations, choreography diagrams, text from performance, and essays in English, Italian, and French, RARE EDITION, less than 5 of this edition recorded at WorldCat/OCLC with a couple of these being the signed limited hardcover edition (8/17/21), only one (unsigned) found for sale online (8/17/21), no signed copies found for sale and apparently only one or two in library holdings, this edition was published following the opera's premier performance in France in 1976 and tour to other European cities before being performed in New York's Metropolitan Opera in November 1976, RARE AUTOGRAPH of Andrew de Groat, choreographer; NOTES: "Einstein on the Beach" premiered on July 25, 1976, at the Avignon festival in France, performed by the Philip Glass Ensemble and presented by the Byrd Hoffmann Foundation. The opera was also staged that summer in Hamburg, Paris, Belgrade, Venice, Brussels and Rotterdam. The Byrd Hoffman Foundation in cooperation with the Metropolitan Opera held two performances in November 1976 (wikipedia) ///// CONDITION: very good-plus, light creasing down about half of first 18 pages near outer page edges.
