About This Item

Leeds & London; Electric Press, [1913]., 1913. Mass Market Paperback. Undated circa 1913. Softcover octavo, pp. 40. Photographic illustrations in duotone and maps in colour throughout; gatefold map of the whole East Coast Route network to rear. Stapled decorative blue card wraps with central fold tucking the brochure neatly into covers (so that it could be inserted into a pocket or wallet without creasing). Covers lightly surface soiled with minor wear to lower edge, and 9 cm adhesive tape repair to inner front hinge. Minor foxing to fore-edge and a few small creases; map slightly mis-folded to edge. A Very Good copy. Attractive pocket guide "Depicting and Describing features of interest to be seen from the trains on the East Coast Route between London (King's X) and Edinburgh (Waverley)" (from front cover). The pages are divided by a central red line, and passengers travelling North with their back to the engine would see the views described to the right of the red line, while those facing the other way saw those on the left; the descriptions are comprehensive and detailed, with historical notes. Scarce.
