About This Item

Fairbanks, Alaska: University of Alaska Press, 2007. NEW in a NEW dust jacket. Near PERFECT condition. The jacket shows just a tiny bit of very mild shelfwear (like you sometimes find in any new book store). NO tears, creases, chips or fading. NOT price clipped ($26.95). Sharp corners. Bright, shiny, clean, square and tight. NOT a remainder. Pages are fresh, crisp, clean and unmarked. Bound in the original silver-stamped red cloth. From the publisher: "THE ESKIMO GIRL AND THE ENGLISHMAN is a sequel to the delightful story Once UPON AN ESKIMO TIME, which recounts the remarkable life of Minnie and her Eskimo mother as she comes of age in a traditional village on Alaska's western coast. Resuming the tale on the day Minnie encounters her first white man, THE ESKIMO GIRL AND THE ENGLISHMAN relates the next century of Minnie's adventurous life -- painting a picture of early twentieth-century village life as Minnie and her Englishman marry and find the determination, strength, and courage to live life in the face of tragedy, rapidly changing technology, and unrelenting hardship along the Bering Sea. Accompanied by [a map and a few] photographs of early Eskimo village life, the narrative poignantly captures a sense of a long-lost way of life on the Seward Peninsula.". First Edition. Hardcover. New condition/New dust jacket. Illus. by NOT a library discard. 8vo. xii, 156pp. Great Packaging, Fast Shipping.

About About Books

About Books (Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and OP books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Our inventory of over 40,000 volumes is especially strong in the specialties listed, but contains fine books in a variety of other fields as well. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole. If you wish to visit us to examine specific titles, please provide 24 hours notice and we will make them available for your inspection. Phone calls to (702) 750-2722 are welcome, but please, only between the hours of 8am and 10pm (west coast time).
