London: Victor Gollancz. 1991. First edition. First edition. Inscribed by the author. Publisher's original ochre cloth with gilt titles to the spine. In dustwrapper. A lovely near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the contents bright and clean throughout. In the better than very good dustwrapper which has some very light creasing to the edges. Not price clipped (£13.99 to the lower front flap). A superb association copy inscribed by the author to the poet Mairi Macinnes and her literary critic husband John McCormick in blue ink on the title page, reading "For Mairi & John from / Nina with much love. / April 1991". This social comedy from the beloved and prolific author of the award winning children's novels Carrie's War and The Peppermint Pig was adapted into a television series for Channel 4.
