Gilt lettering upon spines. Average wear to publisher's navy cloth. Bookplate of prior owner, a Dutch doctor, inside each front board. Laid in is the original handwritten purchase receipt, dated 1931, issued by an Amsterdam book dealer. Front free endpaper of volume 2 neatly removed. Bindings and hinges intact.
