About This Item
Boston: Little Brown, 1943. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. First Printing--From a recent auction of modern firsts--with the auction tag tipped in--a very good copy which is signed and inscribed by the editor, (--the name of Ellery Queen is a pseudonym derived from two people-Frederic Dannay and Manfred Bennington Lee) Ellery Queen--to "Dick--To Whom I find Refreshment---Ellery Queen". Very rare to find with signature. A collection of essays on Female detectives and criminals. In the introduction-- Queen identifies E. A. Poe as the first American author of detective fiction--with the creation of Auguste Dupin as the "Adam" of Detectives. Essays includes writings by Agatha Christie and many others. A very good copy with dustiness to the page edges and rubbing and edgewear to the extremities. There is a very slight water cup stain to the front panel--however the binding is tight and the lettering to the front panel and spine is still strong. A great collectible copy with a rare Queen signing.
