François de Beauchasteau was a 17th-century French poet who is best remembered for his collection of poems, sonnets, madrigals, and songs. These poems were made famous in 1657, when Beauchasteau who was 12 years old at the time, presented these poems to the King. They were shortly, thereafter, published under the title 'La Lyre du Jeune Apollon' harkening the young poet's work to that of the Muses of Apollo.
This first edition opens with dozens of works of other authors and poets who praised the young poet for his prodigy. In addition to the works of song and poetry, this book includes portrait engravings representative of notable political figures, including one of Christine, Queen of Sweden.

John Sheffield was a 17th-century English poet who published several essays, memoirs, and poetical works. As a patron of John Dryden, Sheffield adapted Shakespearean plays which were more than likely edited by Dryden. Sheffield, too, was close with Alexander Pope of whom spoke quite highly of Sheffield's short work 'An Essay Upon Poetry". Sheffield used this work to criticize the work of Rochester and Cowley. Other notable names covered in this work include Tasso, Spencer, Milton, and Homer and Virgil.

Giovanni Boccaccio was a 14th-century Italian poet and important humanist during the Renaissance. Following the popularity and successes of 'The Decameron' in 1351, Boccaccio wrote 'Il Corbaccio' a few years later – a story which never reached the fame of 'The Decameron'. Still, the work is a prime example of 14th-century romanticism, following the story of a man yearning for the love a widow and his being haunted by Death in a dream.

This 1536 Italian edition, published under by the name 'Labyrinth of Love', was published in Venice, collected and edited by Pino de Rossi.
