(London, Colburn & Bentley, New Monthly Magazine, April 1, 1831). 'The author of "The Spy." Engraved by Thomson from a Miniature by Madame de Mirbel.' India-paper proof impression. Surface measures approx. 445 x 300 mm. Image area measures approx. 210 x 130 mm. some superficial soiling, light creasing in the margins. Cooper published his first fiction, Precaution, in 1820. The following year, he published The Spy, which marked the onset of international fame and a degree of wealth. The family lived in Europe from 1826 until 1833. .
