Another in this popular mid-twentieth-century children's series, each written & illustrated by different authors/artists. This one is by a Captain in the US Navy who was part of that organization's 1946/47 expedition to the Antarctic. A FIRST EDITION, Third Printing, from 1956, this hardcover 8vo (7.25" x 8.75") has 67 pages with Index, with decorative endpapers & illustrations throughout by Rus Anderson, a Navy man himself. With soft yellow cloth-covered boards lettered in black to front & spine, it is in Fine condition: exceptionally clean & bright, pages white & completely unmarked save for just a hint of tanning. Binding strong & straight, hinges intact, corners crisp. Promotional notice from First Books book club laid in. The unclipped DJ (with orig. $1.95 price intact to front flap) is Near Fine: colorful & bright with very mild edgewear. A beauty!
