About This Item

London: Arthur Humphreys, 1910. 30 copies of this edition have been printed on Japanese Vellum and bound in Levant morocco [signed] by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, London, of which this is No. 1. Fine. 12mo., pp. 69 [1), red plush end papers, a.e.g., Signed by George Sutcliffe on the limitation page. Elaborate gilt tooled decorated binding. Essay headings have paste on illustrations.-- Slipcase probably some faded and has some light rubbing to the extremities. Otherwise an absolutely gorgeous example (without any imperfections) of an early Sangorski & Sutcliffe binding. "Sangorski & Sutcliffe is a firm of bookbinders established in London in 1901. It is considered to be one of the most important bookbinding companies of the 20th century, famous for its luxurious jeweled bindings that used real gold and precious stones in their book covers".-wiki.
