San Francisco: Wire Press. 1980. First edition, first printing. First edition, first printing. Inscribed presentation copy. Original paperback. Illustrated throughout with black and white paintings by Marie Wilson, the author's wife. A near very good copy, the binding firm, with stains to the cover. The contents are clean throughout. Inscribed by the author in black ink on the half title to the legendary bookseller and collector Martin Stone, reading: "For / Martin Stone / with / my best wishes / + / our common / cause / of / heroic decadent / aesthetics / Nanos / Paris 29.5.98". Valaoritis, Wilson, and Stone all spent portions of their lives living in Paris and engaged with French artistic and literary scenes. Provenance: from the library of Martin Stone.
