Published three years before 'The Prophet' . Hardcover, octavo, black cloth, No dustjacket. Front cover is rubbed and stained, gilt title partially rubbed off, emblem remains fairly bright. Spine is rubbed, title is not legible, lightly rubbed corners. Illustrated frontispiece and four additional full-page plates. Pages have a tiny spot on the top margin and also a spot on bottom margin near spine edge from page 32 forward, most likely light waterstains Warning: this book is very difficult to put down once the first page has been turned.
