Illustrated softcover (lioness Elsa swimming w/her cubs)/NF; sound w/edge rubs. 3rd & last volume of naturalist, artist & author Friederike Victoria "Joy" Adamson's memoir (1910 - 1980) of life w/lioness Elsa. In Born Free, Adamson shared her experiences raising a lion cub named Elsa --- the journal, translated to many languages, was adapted to Academy Award-winning film w/the same title, and, was followed by Living Free. Forever Free, written in 1962, is the 3rd volume and memoir of Adamson's final days w/Elsa. It picks up when Elsa, having mated w/a wild lion, mothers 3 cubs --- Jespah, Gopa & Little Elsa --- and brings them home to the Adamson camp. Ill, Elsa dies pre-maturely, and the Adamsons assume the role of surrogate parents & guardianship. A heroic record of intimate bonding of living beings. 246 pgs, brought to life w/some 30 b/w photos.
