Standish, the author of the famous Frank Merriwell literature. He was really Gilbert Patten and was the author of the Frank and Dick Merriwell stories. The Merriwell books from 1896 to present have sold more than 500,000,000 copies and with their success, Patten became the real king of the dime and half-dime novelists with his heroes among the best remembered figures in an age of derring-do.
