The letters, beginning from Remington's military school days, are divided into 7 groupings with introductory notes on highlights in the author's life of the given period. Some replies to Remington's letters are included, for instance, those from President Theodore Roosevelt who had high praise for Remington's paintings. Added bonus to this anthology is the inclusion of sketches by the artist.
